Acclimation
Dec 18 2022
The body acclimates.
Cold, that used to bother me
I now easily shrug off
as winter goes on.
Heat, I find less tolerable.
Perhaps the added energy
breaks my bonds;
like nuclear fission
I can feel the molecules
boiling off,
the over-excitement
discombobulate.
I seem more suited
to a state of preservation.
Cold works
for a man of my temperament,
moderate
conservative
prefer a slower pace.
Dare I say
frozen in place?
Not so much stable
as rigid
brittle
hard?
These days, though
the weather whipsaws
from flash-freeze
to sudden thaw.
There is no getting used to this.
Dress in layers?
Hibernate?
Relocate?
The changes are exhausting,
my body protests.
