How you can look and not see.
How perception
is purely instrumental,
while sensation is real.
You can't even trust your brain,
the trickster
who takes pleasure
in mocking and trolling you.
Who interjects
when you talk to yourself,
forgets
when it's convenient.
Stop and smell the roses, they say.
Nothing about the thorns.
