Finality

How satisfying to hear a chord
resolve.
The kind of finality
that is hard to find in life.
The problems
we strain to resolve.
Resolving to do
or do not.
Repeating mistakes
and re-solving again.
The resolutions
we make and break.
I am ignorant of scales
and cannot hold a note.
But the ear does not fail.
Something hard-wired
resonates in the brain.
Or perhaps familiarity
with the conventions of music
is why it feels so natural.
Dissonance
does not work as well.
The cacophony of the world
that never completes itself.
